Panda algorithm

Google Panda is an integral part of Google's search algorithm designed to filter out and lower the rank websites with thin or low-quality content and webspam.
Duplicate content
Copied content that appears on the Internet in more than one place.
  • Low quality content
Pages that provide little value to human readers because they lack in-              depth information.
  • Thin content
Weak pages with very little relevant or substantive text and resources, such as a set of pages describing a variety of health conditions with only a few sentences present on each page.
  • Spamming
unsolicited usually commercial messages (such as emails, text messages, or Internet postings) sent to a large number of recipients or posted in a large number of places.
  • Keyword stuffing
Keyword stuffing is when you use the same keywords (or phrases) over and over again in your website's content.

Penguin algorithm

The Google Penguin Update was launched in 2012 and named the ‘Webspam Algorithm Update’. It was created by Google to help reduce the number of sites appearing in SERPs that were using black hat SEO techniques to manipulate results with link schemes. It is also now part of Google’s core algorithm.

  • Backlinks from untrustworthy sources.
  • Backlinks that have the same anchor tag.
  • Backlinks from irrelevant sites.

Pigeon algorithm

Pigeon is an algorithm introduced on July 24, 2014, which was created for more efficient local search results in Google. Therefore, its main function is to correctly match local results to
detailed user queries.

Designed to understand relationship between query and location.

What is hummingbird algorithm

Google’s Hummingbird update was introduced back in 2013 as an overhaul to the existing core search algorithm. Its primary objective was to look into the intent behind searches. This supports in providing more relevant results, rather than just matching words with highly trusted websites. Overall in the SEO community, this was the smoothest of all the previous algorithm updates with no massive outcry that rankings had dropped as a result of it – particularly compared with Panda and Penguin. However, local search results were impacted by the change in various cases
